General Maintenance Technician - Full-Time

 

General Description: Performs general building and grounds maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, basic carpentry and grounds management as assigned by the district. Duties shall be performed in a manner to derive maximum benefit of district funds and resources. Principal responsibility for the safe and healthful physical condition of district facilities,  initial response to all facility emergency situations, and pool maintenance.

 

Qualifications: High School Diploma, one year or more technical training and two years practical experience and general building maintenance. Ability to read and use information obtained from written sources, visual displays and measuring devices. Ability to receive and process verbal information and to respond to non-verbal sounds. Ability to detect job-related information based on sensory perception (touch and odor). Ability to make independent job-related decisions with little or no supervision. Ability to communicate and use Google, Email, Calender, and electoronic work order software. Must have a valid State of Nebraska Driver's License and a good driving record. Capable of obtaining a State of Nebraska Pool Operator's License within 90 days. Must meet insurability requirements of the school district carrier.  A satisfactory attendance and work record.

 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Dependable and reliable attendance.
  2. Performs general/preventative maintenance, and when required able to respond to district emergencies after hours and weekends.
  3. Maintains and operates the high school pool in a safe and healthful condition in accordance with the State of Nebraska regulations.
  4. Provides basic plumbing tasks including water softener maintenance, faucet repair, and clearing minor drain line clogs.
  5. Performs quarterly air filters changes on HVAC equipment.
  6. Performs seasonal coil cleaning on outdoor HVAC equipment.
  7. Maintains tools and necessary shop stocks.
  8. Operates snow removal and ice control equipment in accordance with district snow removal policy.
  9. Assists with grounds maintenance when needed.
  10. Provides basic carpentry tasks, including mounting educational aids, assembling furniture, repairing drywall, and painting.
  11. Assists Locksmith’s with locker repairs and door hardware.
  12. Provides basic electrical tasks, such as changing bulbs and ballasts.
  13. Provides temporary emergency roof leak repairs or divert water to avoid interior damage.
  14. Maintains weekly record on testing of the emergency generator system.
  15. Any other general maintenance or grounds support functions as assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator.
